My First Socks
50,00 kr
My First Socks is the perfect sock pattern/online knitting course for those of you who are new to knitting socks. The sock is knitted from the top of the shaft down to the toe.
You will be held by the hand the whole way with good descriptive text, process pictures and video guides for all the techniques. I will continuously help you adjust the sock to your foot.
In this little sock course you will get:
- A really good beginner's pattern for women's socks 34-43 where we continuously measure your foot so that the sock will fit your foot perfectly. - Process pictures and video material that helps you through all the techniques.
- 2 heel types. An hourglass heel for the low/normal instep and a wedge heel for the normal/high instep. I knit both heels from start to finish in the video material.
- 2 toe types. A slanted one for those with the longest big toe and a spiral toe that fits toes where the big toe is not the longest. The slanted toe is also shown from start to finish in the video material.
- Good advice on knitting samples and choosing yarn, etc. so you are well equipped to get started.
You will therefore be able to knit many different socks with this pattern in hand. See for example the ankle socks in the pink speckled yarn. Here I have knitted the shaft short, knitted in stocking stitch instead of pattern and gone down to needle 2 mm so the knitting tension is 32/10. The pattern is standard women's size 34-43, but we adapt continuously so if your foot is longer, it is no problem. With this pattern I would almost promise that everyone can get through their first pair of socks with a good result that fits spot on.

Knitting strength
30 stitches over 10 cm (I will help you with the pattern if your knitting tension is, for example, 28-29 stitches instead)
Guiding pins
2-3 mm. The needle size is very individual. I achieve the knitting tension on needles 2.5 mm, so test with a knitting sample. You can use both short circular needles (23-25 cm), magic loop and double pointed needles. I use short circular needles in the pattern and switch to magic loop at the end
Yarn
Sock yarn with a running length of 50g = 210m / 100g = 420m. The yarn may contain 20-30% nylon to make it extra durable. Here in the pattern I have knitted with Arwetta from FIlcolana.
