About the book
In Barselsstrik you get 18 beginner-friendly knitting patterns that everyone can join in. The patterns are written without the use of abbreviations and without overly advanced techniques, and several of the patterns also have picture guides, making it easier to understand the workflow in the patterns.
In addition to the recipes, the book also contains good advice for home-knitted maternity gifts and good advice for new knitters – as well as a section on choosing yarn and materials for the recipes.
All the book's recipes are unisex and can therefore be used by both boys and girls. The recipes come in sizes 0 months - 24 months, but several of them go all the way down to preemie sizes. The book contains everything from cardigans and sweaters to suits and small winter sets. There are also recipes for accessories such as pacifier cords and a lovely blanket that has an equally beautiful back as the front.

EXCITING SECTION ABOUT BABY KNITTING AND MATERNITY GIFTS
In addition to the recipes, the book also contains good advice for home-knitted maternity gifts. Here I tell you a little about what you should remember to consider when knitting for a small baby and especially if it is a gift. What materials and colors should you choose, and how do you give the gift?
There is also a section for the new knitter where I talk a little bit about knitting techniques in general and give good starting advice and an overview of materials to use.
At the end of the book there is also an overview where you can fill in which maternity gifts you have knitted for whom and when.
YARN OVERVIEW
All the models in the book are knitted in organic wool and cotton from Krea Deluxe . At the back of the book you will find an overview of which colors are used for the models in the book. The reason this yarn is used is that it is super soft and suitable for baby knitting. It is organic and GOTS certified with consideration for the environment and animal welfare. The yarn simply comes in all my favorite colors and the colors go together beautifully tone on tone. I also have a super good relationship with Kreadeluxe and the two talented women Heidi and Pia who are behind Krea Deluxe, and have worked with them on several projects. The wool can have a tendency to fray a little when used, but this can be easily removed with, for example, a disposable scraper or a wool comb if you think it is necessary.
If you want to knit in a different yarn than the original yarn, it is of course possible. You just have to comply with the knitting tension. On Ulden's bandarole there are 23 stitches over 10 cm on needle 3-3.5. When I knit on needle 3 I achieve approx. 26x38 stitches over 10x10 cm in stocking stitch , so you will need to find a similar yarn.
If you achieve the right knitting tension, the following yarn can be used, for example:
Selba from BC Garn (50% Wool/50% Cotton), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3.5
AllDay from Gepard yarn (100% merino wool), 24-28 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3-3.5
Anina from Filcolana (100% wool), 26-28 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3-3.5
Esther from Permin (55% wool / 45% cotton), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Alpakka Forte from Dale yarn (80% alpaca / 20% nylon), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3-3.5
Little Lerke from Dale yarn (53% merino wool / 47% cotton), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Pure Superwool from Dale Garn (100% pure new wool), 26-27 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3.5
Oslo from Lang Yarns (46% merino wool / 42% cotton / 12% camel), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Cashmerino from Lang Yarns (55% merino / 33% acrylic / 12% cashmere), 25 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Cashsoft from Lang Yarns (50 merino / 50% cashmere), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Basic from Hjertegarn (75% wool / 25% polyamide), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Supersoft from Garnpusher (100% pure new wool), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Thin wool from Geilsk (100% wool), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3-3.5
Silja Superwash from Gjestal (80% wool / 20% nylon), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needles 3-3.5
Kids wool from Stoff og stil (50% merino / 50% microfiber), 26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3.5
Frøya from Viking yarn (80% wool / 20% nylon), 25-26 stitches over 10 cm, recommended needle size 3
Please note that the expression and fit may change slightly when choosing a different yarn. The same goes for the quantity. Therefore, you must try to calculate how many meters you need. Krea Deluxe's wool runs 145m per 50 grams.
